Procedure to Register

Step 1: Choose a Program & Apply

You first choose a School and a Degree Program. At present, Calwest University only offers the MBA and DBA programs via the School of Business to members of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants, a bona fide professional organization.

If you are not a member of ICMA, you need to join ICMA directly via that institution's website.

To apply, visit the Apply MBA or Apply DBA page and enter your CMA Membership Number (MID). Your membership will be verified automatically. Complete the application form and pay the one-time enrollment fee to begin.

Step 2: Receive Your Login Credentials

Once you have registered and enrolled in a degree program, use your ID Number and Password provided via email to Log-in. You will be asked to change password to one of your choice. Please note the new password somewhere. Once this step is done, log in and navigate to the "My Portal" to see your personal dashboard. If you have to complete any Admission Requirements, such as uploading scanned copies of your Degree Certificates and Resume (C.V.), please do so first. This is your first “assignment”.

ICMA members do not need to upload their CMA membership certificates, Degree Certificates, or Resume (C.V.), as ICMA has already vetted these documents.

Step 3: Study via the Learning Platform

Access your courses through the Learn portal. Each course consists of chapters with interactive slide presentations developed by Calwest faculty. Study at your own pace — the platform tracks your progress and allows you to resume where you left off.

DBA students will also have access to video lectures, research resources, and assignment submission facilities for their research courses.

Step 4: Complete Course Assessments

After completing the slides for each chapter, you will take a Topic Quiz. You have 3 attempts per quiz, with the highest score kept. Questions and answer options are randomized on each attempt. If you exhaust all 3 attempts, review the slides again to unlock 3 more attempts.

Once all chapters and topic quizzes are complete, you will take a timed Final Exam — 90 minutes, one attempt, with questions randomly drawn from the course question pool. A passing score of 50% is required. If you do not pass the final exam, a resit is available for a fee of US$275.

For DBA research courses, assessment is via assignment submission reviewed by your assigned supervisor.

Step 5: Get Recognition for External Studies (Optional)

If you have already completed equivalent prior studies at an accredited university, you can apply for recognition of prior learning by paying a US$200 Credit Verification Fee per course. There are limits to how many course credits you can obtain from external courses.

Calwest does not currently have Challenge Exams to assess your external learning.

Step 6: Complete Your Program

On completion of all required courses and the accumulation of the required credit points, you will be given access to apply for Program Completion. The Program Completion and Degree Granting Fee is US$350.

Step 7: Graduate

Upon successful completion of all program requirements, a Calwest University Degree Certificate and Official Transcript will be issued to you electronically. If you wish to receive printed copies, there will be an additional courier fee of $200. These documents can be verified online via the Degree Validation portal.
